Where are Gorilla Found in Uganda?
Gorillas in Uganda are found in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park with 22 habituated gorilla families and the Mt. Mgahinga National Park in South Western Uganda with one habituated gorilla family. Only 8 Tourists are allowed to track each family per day and the tracking time takes anywhere between 2 to 7 hours. Once you encounter the mountain gorillas you are only allowed upto 1 hr maximum time with them.
Gorilla Permit Booking
Gorilla Permits are always in limited supply despite the high demand. Reason being only 8 tourists are allowed to track a gorilla family per day and this is mainly for conservation reasons . A Gorilla Permit for Foreign Nationals costs $700 and $600 for Foreign Residents residing in Kenya. For East African Citizens the cost is Ugx. 250,000. However Gorilla Permit fees are included in all our packages provided by Eyalama Adventures.
Travel from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
Bwindi Impenetrable Forests is easily accessed by a 1 hr and 20 minutes domestic flight from Entebbe International Airport to Kihihi Airstrip or Kisoro Airstrip. There after an hour road transfer to your lodge near the Gorilla Trekking Starting point in Bwindi.
If you choose to travel by road, this is a 9 hr scenic drive from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National park in South Western Uganda.
