The second lockdown in Uganda to combat covid-19 second wave started on 19th June 2021 and will run for 42 days unless otherwise as the government may set new measures anytime.
All cross district travels are suspended and vehicle movement is restricted to only essential workers and licensed tourist vehicles. There are check points allover the country to enforce this, so be sure to have all the required documents.
Tourists visiting Uganda through Entebbe International Airport are welcome as long as they have tested negative on arrival.
For those who plan on a self drive safari in Uganda, you have to make sure that you hire a car from a licensed tour and travel company and the vehicle must be licensed too.
Here are some of the documents that you will need to travel in Uganda during lockdown.
- A valid negative covid 19 test
- A valid passport
- A valid driver’s license (for self drive trips)
- A travel plan / itinerary
- Proof of accommodation booking
- Tourist Vehicle license by the Ministry of Works and Transport (provided by the tour company / car rental agency)
- Tour company license by the Uganda Tourism Board (provided by the tour company / car rental agency)
- Wear a mask
Make sure you have the above documents with you all the time to avoid inconveniences.
